Vehicle History: A Canadian dealer display car. It has original factory clear/no defrost glass. It was and still has no emissions control (so nice to look at without all that extra equipment!). It has been in the states for a while via Massachusetts, I purchased it out of Rhode Island. I will be doing a full concourse level restoration at my shop which will be well documented and published on one or two social media sites for everyone to enjoy as much as I will (almost). The car is 99% complete. The previous owner had replaced the fenders and seat covers, horns etc. but kept everything that he took off and included them and other parts he has collected over the years as well as another early 70′ parts car. I will not be discussing the price although I will say I think we both did well. It is a privilege to own this car and it will be treated with utmost care and respect! More pictures (in color) will be added soon as I begin documenting the car before disassembly.

Vehicle History: A K purchased the car new in January 1970 from the Datsun Dealer in Orlando, FL. It was A K’s daily driver until number two daughter arrived in 1980. Two baby seats would not fit in the rear area. One would fit fine. But not two. The little Z became a “spare” and sat in the garage next to the 1953 Bentley R-Type. In 1983 the Z and the B went into storage on the family “ranch” near Roanoke, VA. The Z had 85,000 miles. The B had 48,000. The family moved overseas. Both cars were removed from storage in 1999. The B went to Atlanta for restoration. The Z was refreshed here in Texas over a 5 year period. It attended the National Z Convention in Dallas in 2006 and the same at Daytona in 2007. Where A K drove the oldest Z in existence still with the original buyer around the SCCA track inside the Daytona Speedway with reckless abandon. The oldest Z and the oldest driver. And the only lady on the circuit. It is driven monthly. Has 89,000 miles now. Looks like a million bucks. And its stablemate remains the B which now has 80,000 miles.

Vehicle History: We found and rescued the car two years ago in Merkel, Texas. The 240z had sat in a field for over 19 years. As the story goes, the car was parked due to a bad differential (turns out it was just a loose brake shoe!). The car is complete and original with 46K showing on the odometer. The gentleman was asking $800, I paid him $1,000 (tried not to take advantage of the guy!). My 16-year-old son wanted the car, so he paid half the purchase price. We are restoring the car together as time and money allow. Thanks for the opportunity to tell our story!

Vehicle History: The Z was purchased in November 2017. A complete restoration was completed in June of 2019. The car is scheduled to be exhibited at the Concourse of America in Plymouth, MI this July, 2020.

A bit of a back story of what started my interest in a Datsun Z: In 1970 I was in the Army stationed in Okinawa. My girlfriend back home in Michigan wanted a Datsun 240Z. I could purchase a new 1971 for $2950, no sales tax in Okinawa. Ordered a red one. Six cars were delivered to the Island every month. I was being discharged March of 1971. The red car was not delivered in time. the dealer said I could have the Safari Gold one that was ordered by someone else. I took the gold car, drove around Okinawa for a few weeks then had it shipped to Philadelphia for $125. A few weeks later, the car arrived in Philadelphia. I flew there and drove back to Detroit. After some time, I lost the girlfriend, lost the car. I sure do miss that car.

Vehicle History: It was a barn find. Original color was mustard gold, but it was painted black when I got it. I stripped interior and brought to a buddy in Syracuse. He pulled engine to have it rebuilt and the car was sitting in his yard with several other cars and lots of other stuff. For reasons not relevant to the car, the city came in and took everything off the property. My car was crushed. I never got to put it back together. All I had was the interior and plaques. I still have the dash which I will restore someday just for memory sake. I put the vin plate and identification plate over my vin # HLS3007823 plates to honor the fallen soldier.

Vehicle History: A friend of mine asked me to look at his unfinished project he started three or four years ago. It was a 1/71 series 1 that a friend of his was working on at his body shop. Supposedly the car was rusty and needed some metal so he went and bought two parts cars use as donor cars. This was one of the donor cars that luckily was never cut up. Once I noticed the VIN number on the car, I decided to purchase all three cars. Supposedly the car was previously owned by a manager at a Nissan dealership as it came with several NOS parts.

Vehicle History: I put money down for a 240Z before the first one made it to Kansas City. About a month went by before the dealer got one in. It was roped off and only those with a deposit got to sit in it. A little over a week later the second one came in. Next they got two in about a week later. Several days later mine came in. Did not hesitate to accept it even though the color was racing green (my daily driver was also racing green). Took delivery on May 18, 1970.
It was my daily driver for 7 years, logging over 100,000 miles and numerous autocrosses.
In 1977 I turned it into a full race car. It has competed in 23 Solo Nationals, including the first in 1973 as well as last years in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Log book shows over 110 race weekends and 19 Runoffs…Road Atlanta, Mid-Ohio, Heartland Park and Road America.

Vehicle History: I acquired my first Z back in 2010/2011 from a client. He purchased the car off of eBay from someone in New Mexico. The car was going to be sent to a professional to restore but he got really sick and stuck in the garage until I got it from him. He owned it for about 5 years before it was given to me. It took me a couple weeks to get the car running with some help. I brought the car home intending to swap the transmission and carbs but it turned into a full-on strip. The amount of Bondo and paint on this car was astonishing! Crash points covered up and the p/o didn’t even know until I showed him photos. I have acquired parts to get this car to what I want but I am waiting to finish welding up the rusted wheel wheels in the rear, family life and work life make it real difficult. The car was 904 white with a black interior, I will be painting the car 907 racing green when I get to it. The car is now located in Livermore CA, USA.

Logbook was missing when purchased and attempts at finding documentation have so far not provided any information. All aftermarket items included/installed on the vehicle are period correct and the cage stamp seem to verify that it does have some history. At some point the dash was changed to a 280z version, possibly to campaign as a later model. I would appreciate any information anyone could share about this vehicle’s history.

This Z was subsequently sold on Bringatrailer.com on 26 April 2017.
The listing said:

This 1970 Datsun 240Z is an earlier restoration that is finished in Metallic Blue over a black vinyl interior. Modi cations include 280Z alloy wheels and a Bob Sharp Racing air-dam. An extensive restoration was performed between 1986 and 1991, during which time it received a bare-metal refinish, undercarriage detailing, and a replacement L24 inline-six. It was in storage from 1992 until the seller’s purchase in 2015, and approximately 100 miles have been covered since. This 240Z is being offered with receipts and photos from the restoration and a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.

This body is #01427 and was sold new at Melloy Brothers Datsun in Albuquerque in 1970. According to the included records, it remained in New Mexico until 1986 when it was relocated to Colorado and underwent a 5-year restoration. The body wasSEE RESULT brought to bare metal, received replacement rear quarters, repair and refinishing of the undercarriage, and a full repaint in Metallic Blue.

New weatherstripping and impact strips were installed during the restoration. The seller indicates that a few nicks and scratches are present in the two-part finish.

All instruments are reported to work, including the clock. A molded plastic cover has been glued down over the original dash pad, and an installed aftermarket head unit is currently inoperable. 25k miles are shown on the odometer and it is believed to have rolled over once.

The seats are wrapped in black vinyl with textured inserts and much of the interior was renewed or refreshed during the restoration. Recent service performed by the seller includes repair work to the electrical system and cleaning of the fuel system.

Power comes from an L24 OHC inline-six that was rebuilt approximately 2,100 miles ago with an unstamped factory replacement block. Further work performed included rebuilding the carburetors and the replacement of multiple cooling, breather, and fuel lines. The engine compartment was re nished with the exterior and extensive re-plating was performed to the hardware and plumbing. Receipts show that the 4-speed manual transmission was rebuilt in 1981 prior the restoration.

The suspension components have been refinished, the hardware received new zinc chromate or cadmium plating, and the factory paint marks were replicated. Records show that the struts were replaced in 1991 and the nal-drive and axles have been rebuilt. The undercarriage has been detailed and undercoated.

Vehicle History: I have owned this 1970 Z since 1977. I bought it in New Jersey for 325 dollars with a minor front and rear accident. I repaired it back then and I used it as my daily driver for years and while attending Penn State, I auto-crossed it in SCCA events. Did a restoration on it around 1978; painted it to black exterior. Then I stripped the black off around 1981 when I painted it red, had paint failure with stripper working back thru paint. Around 1987 I parked it. When I did the restoration, I welded on factory new quarters and rockers. I made a stupid, in hindsight, decision to braze all the seams and reinforce them at that time. Years later all my welds rotted away. It’s original engine I blew up around 1978 or so. It’s long gone. The Z still Has a full Mulholland suspension, 1 inch front 3/4 rear bar, adjustable delrin bushings, it’s lowered with Konis. Awaiting on me to restore it out of love and memories not anything else, heavy rust in floors batter to cowl area, frame rails and every place I stupidly welded it. I have a donor 1973 with good front clip to use to try to save 01536.

The Z had been in an accident, hit on the passenger’s side. With that info I looked more closely and could see evidence of damage. The Z has been stripped as I decide what to do about the body. One option I’m leaning towards is reassemble the Z, get it drivable, and see how it feels. The previous owner said it drove fine, even with the damage, up to freeway speeds.

Vehicle History: Unfortunately, I can’t find the original title now, and the car came with no history/service records so I don’t know much. It was imported to Norway by a company called Target trading in 2013, and I was the first registered owner in Norway when I bought it from the importer. When I got the car, it looked ok from a far, but it needed a lot of work. It turned out the car had been in an accident probably in the front left corner so first thing I had to do was to get the car straightened and change the front left frame rail. Other than that, the chassis looked ok, so I went on to change all the rubber bushings and weatherstripping, and got the engine to run properly. I got the car licensed in spring 2014 and it has been used in the summer season every year since, except this year because I am working on the RB20DET engine swap now. It has been regularly upgraded and personalized over the years, and the attached pictures is how it looks today. I will find some older pictures to add later.

It was delivered to him on 06-14-1970. Sometime in 1979 or a bit prior it was in a front and rear collision the nose took a lot of damage and the lower rear of the car took considerable damage as well. The fiberglass buckets, hood, grill, lower valence and bumper were destroyed. It then sat with 65,000mi on the clock until a friend of mine purchased the car and shipped it to Florida in 2022 with the intent to fix it up. He then sold it to me shortly after making me the now 3rd owner. As of 06-29-2023 I have straightened the front end out, got it to run and purchased many era correct “Series 1” items. I’ve collected all the pieces needed to put the front back together and now I just need to finish the brakes and it’ll finally be back on the road again after 44 years.
P.s. It still has it’s original title, window sticker, warranty booklet and card.

This 240Z was sold in February 2023. The owner, John Felt, stated the following in the ad.

I have always like Datsuns, learned to drive with Datsun 510, at 17 bought my first Z, 1970 silver beauty. Have owned many since then. I am selling them off now. 🙁.
https://sandiego.craigslist.org/…/vista…/7589521804.html
White exterior with light blue interior. Solid car, surface rust on bumpers and a little bits here and there. Has not been restored, most everything is original except for seats and windshield. Seats were reupholstered prior to my ownership. Dash has 3 or so cracks and a few more really small ones starting. Original glass, original am radio, engine is number matching. I had tranny out for rebuild. Engine has correct E31 head and I believe has not been rebuilt. Odometer has around 80,000 miles showing. Its really hard to say if it rolled over, looking at the pedals, glass and overall originality I lean towards the mileage is original. The few receipts that come with the car are 2017 oil change at 74,672 miles and a tune up in 1986 with 71,199 miles and in 1985 oil change at 61,100 miles.

I drive it on Z club events and a few times a month. Runs strong, no issues. No leaks. I did remove and replace original radiator and fan, but kept original parts. The aluminum radiator in it now is a Mishimoto. It has dealer installed AC (not operating) and smog pump which is also not hooked up.
Comes with clean title, a few receipts, original Dealers Manual and original radio operating guide.

This is an AMAZING original California Low Vin LOW MILE Series 1 Barn Find 240Z in great condition all around!! This original west coast car was recently removed from long term storage and completely refreshed to make it a reliable driver!! It has 91000 original documented miles. Original Ultra rare white on blue Z car is unmolested with the exception of the body kit which is NOT molded in and easily removed. It has a correct series L24 with the 2400 valve cover but the engine is not matching numbers. The motor has a cam and minor performance enhancements and runs excellent. The rest of drivetrain is original and unmolested. RARE AIR CONDITION CAR with some of the under-hood parts removed… I have them! Thousands spent in recent work to bring back to reliable condition. The body is straight with no collision damage that I can see. It does have some very minor rust issues mostly in the driver’s door, one small hole in the hatch sill and surface rust in a few spots underneath. It’s a So Cal car and not rotted by any means. Nice driver quality Re-Paint was done some time in the past. It presents quite well with only minor blemishes in addition to what I noted above… Frame, floors, and chassis are solid…

The interior is in great shape… panels, and seats all look great… driver’s seat has a tiny hole… I assume dash is cracked under the cover. Gauges, lights, and electronics all work properly except the clock of course.

L24 motor starts idles and runs fantastic… carbs tuned perfectly! The car has great power… 4-speed Trans shifts smooth and strong through the gears!! Suspension feels tight and provides good ride and brakes stop straight and sure. Strong, powerful, and reliable… freshly serviced and tuned… ready to roll…. definite daily driver capable.

Vehicle History: Bought 8/15/70 Jack Ingram Motors, Montgomery, AL while stationed at Craig AFB, Selma, AL going through Pilot Training. Another student asked me to follow him to Montgomery so he could take his car to get it serviced. While I was waiting on him I saw the 240Z in the show room. A salesman asked me if I liked the car and could get my name on a list for $700 but when my name came up I would have to take the car that arrived. He said that a dentist was supposed to get the car on the floor but hadn’t come in for it. He went to see if the car was available and came back to tell me I could buy and I did for $3000. I stayed at Craig as a T-38 Instructor Pilot. I had to trade the car for a station wagon when the second child was due. A student going through Pilot Training bought the car the day I traded it. He also stayed at Craig when he graduated and moved next door to me on base. I saw MY Z next door for 2 more years. In 1989 at Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, La, I received a letter from the second owner who was an American Airline pilot living in Dallas, Texas. He stated he was selling the Z and was giving me the first chance to buy the car. Of course I immediately called him. He had appraisals that said the car was worth $3000. My wife said call him and we would pick up the car that weekend. We went to Dallas on Saturday to pick up the car paying him $3000 which was the same price I paid for it August 1970. Scott Gregory had kept a list of each action he performed on the car with action, the date, and the mileage and also the invoices for services and parts for the car from he bought it in 1972 and when he sold it to me 17 years later in 1989.

Vehicle History: This car belonged to my father, Van Johnson, since it was a few years old. He told me it belonged to a guy that used to run it around Road Atlanta when it was new. Some of my fondest memories of my dad involve driving through downtown Atlanta in the 80’s, riding in the rear with my brother. In the late 90’s he decided to restore it and had a gentleman named Jack Burman do the work. I have several letters from Jack, to my dad discussing the various parts he was restoring during the build over the course of several years. Once restored, the car was a regular fixture at Georgia Z Club meetings and my dad brought me along for a few of them. In March of 2017, my father passed away and I am now keeping it just the way he wanted it, bone stock.

Vehicle History: As the story goes, this car was purchased in Washington. The original owner moved in 1982 to Livermore, CA. That is where the service records stop at 31k miles. The story continues that it was put away in the garage and sat there until it was sold by a family member in 2018. I purchased it from the 2nd owner who had some body work done and got the car running. The car now shows 36k miles. I am hoping to get in touch with the original owner to try and verify the odometer as well as learn about the life of this car. It is in great shape with little to no rust except where damage was present on the nose and on the deck lid, which tells me the car likely sat outside for a while. The engine bay is untouched, rust free (of course the engine components show some corrosion). The underside of the car appears to be rust free as well, but covered in dirt. It’s almost time to clean it up and make her look pretty again!

Vehicle History: I was the second owner, I purchased the car from Northport, Long Island from a private sale in 1974. It was all original except for the hubcaps which were updated from the dealer with Maxima Wire wheel hubs. She was stock all the way. In 1975 I added chrome trim glass cover head lamp covers from Bob Sharp (CT) and in 1976 I installed a glass moon roof, myself. I moved to Ft Lauderdale, Fl in 1977 and she was there for 2 years, until I returned to NY where I changed her color to White and added an air-dam and fog lamps. She was a daily driven car until 1982. I garaged her for many years as she started to wear down in the usual rust spots front fenders and Front arms. I moved to a single garage home in 1984 and she stayed garaged for the remainder of her life. In 1990 I needed room for my Jaguar so I placed her on the driveway for the following two years. The winters and summers took its toll on her and she was too expensive at the time and I was not intelligent enough to realize her importance. I asked my friends at J&M Auto to give her a proper send off and with that she would never be driven again by anyone and she was sent to S&S Salvage/Junkyard in Huntington, NY (1994) where she was to be no more RIP HLS30-04390. Vehicle History: I was at a car show with my Fairlady and a guy came up to me and asked if I was interested in another Z; I said yes. Eight months later, I received an email from him asking if I was still interested; I said yes. Went and looked at the car, it was solid, pulled up the carpets and the paint on the floor pans was shiny green no rust at all. He had owned the car for 14 years and had bought it from his neighbor and they were the original owners. Car was originally purchased in Arizona. I said, how much Bob? He said 5000, I said done, no bickering. That was 1 April 2016. Brought the car home, rebuilt suspension, brakes, drain and clean engine interior, installed carbs, wires and plugs. It started right up. It has about 69,000 miles on it. Removed all the smog crap, plugs holes and installed a set of headers. I had a complete factory AC unit that I was going to put in my Fairlady, but would not fit in a RHD, so after a month of work, installed and working great in the 240.

Sanded the entire car down to bare metal, no rust at all. Put 3 coats of white epoxy primer and that’s where I’m at. It’s a weekly driver, and so much faster than the L20 Fairlady.

Vehicle History: (Starting with furthest back owner l know of, who I believe was the second owner due to his name being different from the one listed on the warranty registration card.) He had just painted the 240Z, and then his house caught on fire. He rolled it out of the garage and into his yard to save it from the flames. It sat in his yard for many years (I’d estimate 15-20). He then called a guy (soon to be owner) to come take it from his yard and haul it away to scrap. Instead, this guy bought the car from him. He (the new owner) was planning on turning it into a Pro Street build, but felt guilty because of how complete it was. Instead, he listed it for sale and I purchased it (23+ hour round trip included for free). I believe I am the fourth owner. It has not been restored yet, but I plan on doing so after I finish my current project. I have already taken it down to bare metal to assess the rust damage, and given it a backyard rust-reformer paint job. As long as the wiring doesn’t give me too much of an issue, I will make it a regular driver soon.

Vehicle History: 25 years ago I took this car as payment for doing some work on my friend’s 260Z. He had bought it and planned on turning it into a race car but fell on financial hard times. I had always wanted a 70. But somebody had put a 75 bumper on the front of this one and a homemade gas tank. Then basically sat in the back of my shop for the last 25 years it was running when parked but did smoke a little bit. As far as I can tell the car is fairly rust free. I have never been underneath the car. Initially I thought the car was canary yellow because the underside of the hood was canary yellow it was repainted with a very cheap enamel burgundy paint job going to assume it was damaged in the front because the bumper in the hood have been replaced. I had always wanted a canary yellow but I think I was disappointed when I found out it was originally British racing green which now 25 years later I’m actually liking the British racing green.

Fortunately, the stamped numbers can be read when the light is right. Not sure what would possess someone to do that. I’ve had the car since 1998 and it’s been a lady-in-waiting for restoration. Hopefully I can get started on it this summer. The current plan is to put in an L28 and 5-speed out of a 1982 ZX. I was able to find a correct series 1 hatch, so that’ll be in place. The radiator support has a little damage, I’d like to find a suitable replacement for that – in the meantime I’m straightening out what’s there, maybe it’ll end up working out OK. I’m debating on staying with the fuel injection or swapping that out for the factory Hitachi side-drafts.

Vehicle History: My wife’s father (the first commissioned officer from the University of Mississippi ROTC program) purchased the car in Okinawa in 1970 as an Air Force Captain and owned it until he passed last year. He wanted a mustang when he was in college, but was talked into a VW Beetle. When the Z hit the market, he decided to get the mustang eater.

It is a left-hand drive. He maintained all records on the car. The order date was April 5, 1970 (have the order paperwork and final payment paperwork when it was delivered, as well as every oil change/maint checks). He moved back to the states, living in Nebraska, then Mississippi. The car has been garage kept since at least 1972. He refused to drive it in the rain. My wife was brought home from the hospital after her birth in the Z, so it holds strong sentimental value.

He regularly showed it off at ‘Cruisin the Coast’ in Gulfport, Ms., though never entered it (it’s never been restored). The car is mostly stock (radio and electronic fuel pump upgrades are the only non-stock option I’ve found so far).

The Z will live next to the mustang until we pass. It’ll get a combing over to find any additional wiring concerns, and may end up restored at some point down the road.

Vehicle History: I am the third owner of this Z. I bought it for $5500 in 2008 from a lady in Milwaukee WI. Her Husband died of cancer and she didn’t want it anymore. I had been looking for a 240Z and had the money in hand, so I start searching and found the one in WI. My Dad and I were driving from his home in Idaho to mine in MA, stopped in WI to purchase, and then had a car hauler bring it home to me in MA. They knew the original owner in TX when they lived there, bought it from him/her and then moved to WI. The condition of the Z was stock with a replaced motor, drivable, but in desperate need of refurbishment. It was garaged. All the rubber was petrified and the transmission seal was blown. I’m not sure if I blew the seal or if it was already gone. I knew I was going to take it all apart at some point, so when I got in the car for a drive and the transmission went, it was go time for a complete rotisserie overhaul.

2009 I bought a rotisserie from Jegs for around $1400, delivered. We stripped the engine, transmission, differential, struts, steering, and mounted it on the rotisserie. We had a guy come and sandblast the underside, diff, struts, etc… and I went to work on parching the rust on the underside, which was minimal but expected. In doing so, we found a bullet hole in the passenger side floor/firewall transition. We also found that it looked as though the car was bottomed out (as you can see in some of the pics), so our hypothesis is that the drive and passenger were driving the car when the passenger fired a gun into the front passenger tire causing the care to drive up on a curb, or whatever they hit to dent the floor pans. I kept the bullet hole the way it is. Looks like a .44 from our fitting a bullet to the hole. I welded Bad Dog frame rails in case I ever wanted to put in a V8 (at the time, that was the eventual plan), which I have since decided I will not do. I’m keeping this a Datsun forever.

Once I was done with the rotisserie, I sold it for $1000 in about 3 hours.

My Dad knew a guy in Idaho who worked on a race team (not sure what kind), and in return for my Dad letting this mechanic use his pickup truck for the Winter, this mechanic went through a L28 motor for me and made sure it was going to run well. I think the only upgrade was a cam with a little more pop from stock. No idea the specs on the cam. This is the motor in the car now.

I went with the original SU Round tops, but sent those out to a guy in the Midwest who specializes in SU’s to refurbish them and shine them up. Once on the car, I just tuned them and they’ve been running great ever since. I finally got her on the road around 2012 to start shaking her down and build some trust. I’ve since had her to 3-4 of Track Night in America at Thompson Speedway in CT. She has more traction than power, but damn she’s fun to drive.

Future plans? I want to have the body work and paint done by June of 2020, her 50th B-Day. I also have an F54 block that I would like to turn into a stroker when I have the money to actually dive into that headfirst and do it right. Until then, I’m just having fun.

Vehicle History: I bought the car in February 2020 from a guy that imports and sells classic cars as a hobby. According to him the car had sat in a barn in Texas for about 20 years. And that’s about it that I know of its history.

As it had been sitting for that long it was sold as a non-running car but the engine was free, so there should not be that much wrong with it. It was a complete car with full interior which was a big plus. Has been repainted at some point, shows some questionable work on doglegs. But out of the usual bad crusty rusty areas it scored 3 out of 10.

As it had supposedly sat for 20 years the plan was to just go buy the entire car and make up the plan of either a quick clean, flush, and go. Or I would dive further. As we went through the basics, we came to the result that a quick clean, flush and go would end up being a bad idea. As we found some dodgy things…

I made the decision to make it technically and structurally safe and like new as doing a complete restoration is way above my current budget, time and workspace.

By now I have put in KF Vintage floors and rails, completely redone the underside of the car and the suspension. Next up is finishing the brake system and to finish up all the things that are out of reach when the car is on the ground so I can move it out of my dad’s garage and into mine. After that, I’m going to be digging in the engine and after that it’s electrical, interior, whatever I find that needs to be done.

Documented most of it on my Intagram account: Richard_s30

Original owners parked it in around or before 1986, due to a need for a tune-up, and carb adjustment. The car has not been licensed since 1986. The car has been painted once in its life on the road, but the same color. The original paint is under the crappy paint. Plans for the car at this time, are to get it in running and driving order. Added by Datsun 240Z Registry of America: The following information is from the sales listing at Giordano’s Vintage Motors in Carnation, WA.

This car has its matching number engine L24-009665 and believed matching 4 speed original transmission. Engine turns over freely on the key. Car is a factory, 907 Racing Green. Car now painted Red Metallic. Importantly, engine compartment, floors and inside metal/body is still original green. Car was left outside for several years, and regrettably rust damage occurred. Worst area is typical Right-Hand battery box/inner fender and floor-pan.

As you can see from the photos of the underbody, there is rust in many locations, all repairable of course. Presently front hood and rear hatch latches are not operating, but we hope to get these working. Large dent in LH front fender, but body otherwise is very straight with excellent panel gaps. Note: new front flood pan repair panel is included with car. Car is in unknown mechanical condition, but previous owner said the engine and transmission were in good working order when last parked. 84,225 indicated miles believed to be original. Presently removed off the car but included with this sale are the original bumpers with brackets and over-riders, radiator, badging and emblems etc., starter (spare) and other parts, original 1970 240Z owner’s manual, two service manuals, and sheaves of printed materials collected by the previous owner. These and a few other parts and badging are shown in photos. Car has clear, WA state title, rolls easily.

Point of interest: I have the plaques from vin # HLS3000622 on the car because I owned 622 which met too early a demise, but I also have all of the correctly matching plaques as well. Also, I drove Mr. K into the 2005 Z CON in Syracuse N.Y. Also note that I have all of the original parts that I have changed if needed to authenticate.

Vehicle History: I bought this car from Vancouver, British-Colombia, Canada. Apparently, the car had been imported from Arizona. When I saw the car for the first time, all the parts where with it except of a windshield and bumper. When I picked up the car, the car was all loaded with parts and ready to go. After my cross-country road trip back home, I unloaded the car and realized the seller took all the rare parts from the 70 and lots of other parts. It includes the 2400 valve cover which was installed on the car when I saw it the first time. This situation is really frustrating and now I need to purchase lots of rare parts. Overall, I’m happy to have a solid 1970.

Vehicle History: The original owner purchased in Los Angeles California. That chap owned it for 25 years. Moved it from California to Colorado and then Texas. Then a collector bought it. He did some work to it and then a younger guy got it in 2014 or so and he is who wrote the blog on the ClassicZ forum about all his work.

https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/49581-hardways-1971-240z-8011-build-and-repair-thread/

Ebay sale by him then to an attorney in Jacksonville whom I bought it from. Think we are 5th owners. I purchased this car after over year of speaking back and forth with the previous owner on 08-24-24. He owned it from 2017 to 2024 and it was located in Jacksonville, Florida. He purchased it from Texas I believe. I have a large folder with other information but I have not gone through all of it.

These photos are from the sellers advertisement. I will endeavor to post some photos of my own when I can. I corresponded with the nice gentleman for 14 or so months over 2023 and 2024 and we came to an agreement this last week in August 2024. My friend from High School Band (in the stone age) was of great assist in getting the car from Jacksonville to near Orlando this last Saturday. The owner of the car from 2014 to 2017 or so kept a fantastic blog on the extensive amount of work he performed that was printed out and that stack of paper came with the car sale. I am going to try and reach out to him to say ” thank you ” for documenting so carefully the work he did. It helped me greatly to read ( a cursory go through it was on Sunday afternoon ) all of his posts after getting the car here to my place. It affirms that what I thought….. that some folks had put a lot of love into the car. Sweat equity….nothing like it in life. There is a wrap of some sort on the exterior of the car that is different than the paint code. The engine bay however has been re worked and I believe it to be the original 901. The wrap does not bother me in the slightest really. I am just excited to be the caretaker of 8011 for some years.

At this time, we do not have specific plans for the car other than to drive it a bit. We also have two other Datsuns and we are excited to have this one in the family. We hope to keep it in the condition it is in which is one of decent originality with a few drivability modifications.

Vehicle History: This Z was restored by Zed Farm in Southland Farm, Dalton, Thirsk, North Yorkshire, UK in 1999/2000. Using a US Imported Bodyshell, it was fitted with a RHD Bulkhead from a Donor UK car. Hence the ‘HLS30’ VIN number.
Zed Farm built it to order for a few Rallies in it and then the owner retired and sold it. Zed Farm acquired it again around 2008/9 and decided to de-spec it (removing the Rally stuff) and repainted it Red.

I bought the car from Zed Farm in August 2009 and since then have used it for Classic Car Runs and Holidays. It was a Historic Rally Car and have the MSA Documents dated Jan 2001 when it was fitted with an L28 engine (L28 209973) with triple Webber Carbs. When I bought it, the engine had a 2 SU Carb set up. The suspension uses adjustable (for height) coil overs and the front brakes are Toyota Hilux, as per rally spec.

We had kids which drew attention from this project. My son is now interested in starting to work on it with me so I suspect that it will start moving again as time and funds allow. There is rust in the usual places, floor pans, battery tray, rear hatch sill, gas filler area, dog legs, etc. Nothing horrible though it does need to be dealt with.

Vehicle History: I bought “Suki” in Sept of 2012 in Carson City NV. The guy that I purchased it from said that he had bought it for his wife some ten years-ish beforehand. When cleaning out the car for the first time, I found some old parking permits and other nick knacks from the 80’s and 90’s tying it to the Tahoe and San Francisco areas of California. The engine had developed a bad noise and was parked until I bought it. The engine was not original to the car. Later I found that a piston rod had broken. Engine was replaced with another that I rebuilt. Currently under a VERY slow resto but have the goal of taking her out for a nice long drive for her 50th birthday

Vehicle History: I purchased the car new in Crestwood, Missouri in September 1970 for $3,751 I did not own the car for the entire time. I moved to Boise, ID in 1980 and have remained in Boise since then. I sold it in September 1990 to a fellow in Caldwell, ID who had a couple of Z’s and was going to fix it up. It changed hands a few times, and I re-purchased it (not knowing it was my original Z) in May 2000. I saw it parked in Boise just before Christmas 1999 and told my wife, that looks like my old Z, but in much better shape than the one I sold. It was not for sale, just parked on the street. I put a note in the car with my name and phone number and asked to call me if they were going to sell it. About six months later I got a call. I looked at it, and bought it, not realizing at the time that it was the Z I purchased new in 1970. When I washed it, I found some familiar scratches and knew it must be my car. I later found some registration papers with my name. The guy I bought it from in 2000 was planning to restore it, but never did too much. He did repair and repaint the rear wheel wells and rocker panels. I have been going to restore it, have not done too much except kept her running and fixing minor things. I’m at the point in life now that I doubt I’ll ever get around to fixing her up like I would like and am going to list her on BaT soon.
