240Z Paint and Interior Combinations

Nissan didn’t keep their original build records for the 240Z. Therefore, information such as number of vehicles built by color combination (Paint and Interior Colors) cannot be be determined by looking at an existing Nissan database. By using a statistical analysis of a smaller sample size, a running calculation of combinations can be determined.

Here are the latest color combination production number estimates for 240Zs based on cars in the registry. Please note that this chart only includes HLS30 and HS30 versions and not S30s.

The last row explains what each column represents.

240Z Options

With the exception of automatic transmission, all options added to Datsun 240Zs were dealer add-ons. Many of the various options can be seen on the 240Z Options page. Click on the link “240Z Options” above to see them.

Known 240Zs

Over the past several years I have been building a database of all 240Zs. Periodically I will be adding photos to show all of them. I have now included HS30 and S30 models as well as L24 engines. I have also added the VINs for the 240Zs that were part of the Vintage Z Program in the mid 1990s. So far, I have 327 pages worth, 2,518 cars and 90 engines. I still have many more to add. 240Zs that are currently registered are listed with green VINs. 240Zs that are not registered are listed with red VINs. Zs that I don’t have a picture of will be shown with a 240Z emblem.

240Z Original Owner Stories

The introduction of the 240Z in late 1969 started a new love affair between the automobile and its owner. In numerous cases, this resulted in the original owner never committing to sell their beloved Z car. Here are some of the stories of original owner 240Zs that are still owned after over 50 years.
